Updated Styling in a Well-Equipped, Practical Crossover

The 2022 Chevy Equinox is a popular and practical compact crossover with updated styling and a collection of desirable features. The 2022 model year features a freshly styled front end with attractive headlights, a new grille, and bumpers. Buyers can choose a sporty Equinox RS trim with blacked-out trim and gloss black 19-inch wheels. Chevy also offers the Premier trim with an impressive amount of safety and tech, as well as unique interior styling.

Comfortable Performance with Respectable Fuel Economy

For the 2022 model year, Chevy puts a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard with front-wheel drive, but buyers can upgrade to all-wheel drive. All models come with a six-speed automatic transmission with smooth shifting.

The performance features include a towing package that lets Equinox tow 3,500 pounds. With front-wheel drive, the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox delivers an EPA-estimated 26/31 MPG, and with all-wheel drive, the Equinox gets an EPA-estimated 25/30 MPG.

Loaded with Popular Infotainment Technology

Chevrolet includes a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen in all Equinox models. Buyers can upgrade to an 8.0-inch touchscreen. All models come with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth streaming. The Equinox also has standard 4G LTE Wi-Fi, USB and AUX ports, and Intellibeam headlights. Drivers greatly appreciate the hands-free gesture liftgate for easy access to the cargo area.

A Five-Star Safety Pick

The four trims offer different combinations of standard safety and driver-assist features. The base trim, the Equinox LS, comes with Automatic Emergency Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, OnStar with Chevrolet Connected Services, a Rear-Vision Camera, and Chevy’s StabiliTrak electronic stability control and traction control system.

The upgraded trims include more safety features like LED Daytime Running Lights, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and an available Automatic Parking Assistant.

With so many standard active and passive safety features, the 2022 Chevy Equinox earned a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the 2021 model with a Top Safety Pick rating but has not yet tested the 2022 model.
