How Safe is the 2021 Chevy Blazer?

Big on Style, Strong on Safety

The 2021 Chevy Blazer has returned and it is better than ever. Starting off strong after a near 20 year hiatus, the 2021 Blazer features powerful yet efficient engines, intuitive technology and undeniable style. While it certainly is pleasing to the eyes, its emphasis on safety is all the more important. Dive in with us as we put the 2021 Chevy Blazer’s safety features under the microscope and show how it offers peace of mind day in and day out.

Let’s Get to Know the Blazer

Powering the 2021 Blazer is a standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that generates 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, power is sent to the front wheels and allows the SUV to return an EPA estimated 27 MPG on the highway. Power is robust and available through two more engines that generate up to 308 horsepower. Adding even more capability to its artillery, the 2021 Chevy Blazer offers a capable all wheel drive system that lets you enjoy both on and off road performance.

Intuitive Safety

In addition to seven standard airbags, the 2021 Blazer comes with a suite of available driver assist safety features by way of the Safety Assist Package to ensure that you enjoy total peace of mind. The package includes automatic emergency braking that works in tandem with Forward Collision Alert to not only warn you with audible and visual signals if you are approaching a potential collision, but also apply emergency brake force to prevent or reduce the severity of a collision. Front Pedestrian Braking will even work to alert you and respond appropriately if a pedestrian darts in front of you. Lane Keeping Assist with Lane Departure Warning scans the markings in the road and will not only warn you if you are drifting out of your lane, but will also provide gentle steering assistance to encourage you to recenter yourself in your lane. The system also features automatic high beam assist, a handy feature that automatically turns on the high beams on dark roads, and returns your lights back to low beams when an oncoming car approaches to avoid dazzling other drivers.

Available adaptive cruise control will maintain a safe distance if you approach a slower vehicle, while automatically resuming your preset speed once your pathway is clear.
